Andhra Pradesh (AP) Government Holiday
During the year 2021, the Government of Andhra Pradesh directs that the days specified in Annexure-I be observed as General Holidays by all State Government Offices, with the exception of holidays falling on Sundays as specified in Annexure-I (A) and Optional Holidays as specified in Annexure-II, with the exception of Optional Holidays falling on Sundays as specified in Annexure-II(A).
- The State Government directs that all offices under the jurisdiction of the State Government will be closed on all Sundays and Second Saturdays in all months of the year 2021, including holidays.
Additionally to the General Holidays listed in Annexure-I, State Government employees may take up to a total of (5) Optional Holidays during the year 2021 on festival/occasions listed in Annexure-II to this order, at their discretion and regardless of the religion to which the festival is associated. Permission to take advantage of any of these holidays must be requested in writing at least one month in advance, and it will normally be granted by the Superior Officers who are authorised to grant casual leave, except in cases where the presence of an individual employee is deemed necessary in the course of government business.
Moreover, the State Government directs that General Holidays shall not be applicable to industrial establishments and public undertakings under its control, as well as to employees of public works departments and educational institutions in this State. Separate orders regarding the festivals/occasions on which these Institutions are required to observe holidays will be issued by the Administrative Department of the Secretariat in charge of that particular festival/occasion.
- If the date of RAMZAN, BAKRID, MOHARAM, SHAB-E-BARATH, and EID MILADUN NABI is changed as a result of the sighting of the moon, or if the date of any other Hindu holiday is changed as a result of the sighting of the moon, the change will be announced through electronic and print media. Without waiting for a formal order stating that the date has been changed, all Secretariat departments, department heads, and district collectors are required to act in accordance with the announcement and without delay.
