In March of 2022, you may already be aware that the Indian Railways resumed its service of providing linen, blankets, and Bedrolls, and they also let passengers to make use of curtains when travelling on trains.
It is important to point out that the pillows, blankets, sheets, and towels that are provided by Indian Railways come in a sealed cover. Additionally, the linens that are provided include a blanket. This service is provided at no additional cost to passengers who are travelling in the AC First Class, AC 2-tier sleeper, or AC 3-tier sleeper classes. This includes passengers who are joining the train at intermediate stations.
On the other hand, the service was gradually brought back online, and it is not yet available on all trains. The Indian Railways has stated that the most current data they have available indicates that the supply of linen was reinstated in the train that ran in 1956.
Instructions for Railway Passengers
Regarding this matter, the Indian Railways has also distributed some instructions to its customers and said the following:
- As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects on social behaviour, the Indian Railways discontinued its linen service in the AC classes of their trains.
- There has been a loosening of the rules regarding the provision of linen services in AC courses as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic conditions relaxing.
- As a direct result of this, Indian Railways has begun providing Linen Services in AC Classes on a staged basis in order to maintain a higher level of cleanliness.
- Before beginning their journey, passengers are strongly encouraged to consult the table that may be seen below to determine the current state of the linen supply in the AC classes.
- The following table provides a list of trains for which the Linen Service has begun and specifies which trains are included on that list.
- Linen services have not yet begun for trains, despite the fact that they are stated in the table below; nonetheless, they will begin at the earliest opportunity.
On certain trains, passengers are strongly encouraged to take responsibility for securing their own linen for the duration of their train trip.
