Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
PMSBY is an accidental insurance plan that provides one-year coverage for accidental death and disability with an annual renewal. The Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana gives Rs. 2 lakh in life insurance coverage for accidental death and permanent whole disability, and Rs. 1 lakh in life insurance coverage for permanent partial disability.
The following are the qualifying requirements for the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY):
- The minimum age requirement is 18 years.
- The maximum age requirement is 70 years.
- Those having a savings bank account and falling under the age group of 18 – 70 years are eligible to subscribe to the policy.
People between the ages of 18 and 70 who have a bank account and give their approval to join/enable auto-debit on or before May 31st for the coverage period 1st June to 31st May on an annual renewal basis are eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana. The primary KYC for the bank account would be Aadhar.
The policy provides Rs. 2 lakh in risk coverage for accidental death and total disability, and Rs. 1 lakh in risk coverage for partial impairment. The annual premium of Rs. 12 will be deducted in one instalment from the account holder’s bank account via the “auto-debit facility.” The programme is offered by Public Sector General Insurance Companies (PSGICs) or any other general insurance company willing to offer the product on identical conditions with the requisite approvals and bank tie-ups.
How to Apply for the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY)
To apply in the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, the subscriber can go to one of the participating banks or insurance firms. Most reputable institutions let customers to purchase policies using internet banking. The subscriber must enrol in the plan by logging into his or her Internet banking account.
Subscribers can also send a message to the toll-free numbers of banks and insurance firms using their registered cellphone number.
